Welcome!

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Welcome to the exciting “World of Spanish.” It is my pleasure being your Spanish teacher this school year. Born in the tropical country of Costa Rica, I have the great opportunity to live in the United States of America for thirteen years. I hope you will get to know me as a patient and caring teacher advocate for every student’s learning.

Speaking Spanish from my childhood days on, I enjoy teaching Spanish and recognize the importance of become bilingual as an important tool for every student in order to succeed in life. Languages open doors of many opportunities in life. Spanish is the second most commonly spoken language in the United States and is the fourth most commonly spoken language in the world—after English, Chinese and Hindustani.

Your child has a great opportunity to know and learn about Spanish language and its rich cultures. As the teacher, one of my goals is to guide and help your child to have a communicative competence in Spanish increasing his/her language skills on the four language domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In the same way, this course will help your child to increase his/her cultural-awareness of the Hispanic and Hispanic American culture.
