2019-2020 Membership

All eligible juniors and seniors will be invited to apply for membership in National Honor Society on August 15th. Each eligible student will receive a packet from their 1st-period teacher. Eligible students will have a little over two weeks to apply by completing an application and writing an essay. All applications are due by Friday, August 31st.  Once applications are completed and turned in, the entire faculty is invited to comment on their relationships with applicants. Each applicant is evaluated on the basis of the Four Pillars of National Honor Society - scholarship, leadership, community service, and character.  Previous behavioral referrals will also be checked as eligible students are also evaluated on the basis of character. Upon the basis of this collection of information, our Faculty Advisory Council meets to discuss each applicant. Not every applicant becomes a member of NHS. All applicants will be notified of the Faculty Council’s decision by Monday, September 10th.  New members will be required to attend an Induction Ceremony on Monday, September 24th, at 6:00 pm to officially induct them into membership.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Brooks @ gregory.brooks@tvcs.org (VHS Room 121).
