Literacy Crusaders « Clubs Listing

Literacy Crusaders is a service club that matches high school mentors with elementary students to help boost reading skills, reading scores and confidence in learning. Together the mentor and mentee work with educational and fun books designed to improve reading skills. Our goal is for the mentee to improve his/her reading skills while developing a lifelong love of reading. Results from previous years have shown that more than half of the students in the literacy program were reading at grade level by the end of the school year. This club meets weekly on Thursdays from 2:45-3:45, at the Intermediate Center. Students will have a total of 24 mentoring sessions this school year. Since Literacy Crusaders is a service club, each mentor will receive one hour of community service for their mentoring session.
