Parents play an essential role in The Villages Charter School (VCS) community with their involvement in day-to-day activities. As a key element of our school charter, Parental Involvement Hours, or “P.I. Hours”, are required each year for enrollment qualification. In fact, more than 80,000 service hours are logged each year, well beyond the minimum requirements.
Our Parent Portal helps keep track of time spent at book fairs, reading celebrations, sporting events, fundraisers, and more. A wide variety of enriching volunteer opportunities bring parents, teachers, students, and the community together to create better educational opportunities for everyone.
VCS students are fortunate to be in a unique educational environment surrounded by parents who go above and beyond, embracing the spirit of volunteerism. Our parents bring their own creative talents and experiences to share with students through their time and participation in and outside of the classroom.
As part of the enrollment requirement, parent involvement is mandatory for your child to attend VCS. While involvement may take many forms, our charter and the Charter School Advisory Board have determined a minimal acceptable level of participation for each family as well as specific areas where involvement has the largest impact on student success.
You can find a list of volunteer opportunities in the section below and calendar of events on our Buffalo HERD page. Please contact our Central Office for more information at 352-259-2350.
